Win tickets to Debbie Sledge sings Nina Simone

“An artist’s duty is to affect times”

“An artist’s duty is to affect times”

Those were the words Nina Simone lived by. All of her songs matter. All of them mean and move something.

Listen to this, for example

These amazing songs are making a comeback in your life, as the famous singer Debbie Sledge from Sister Sledge, and the equally famous jazz pianist and pioneer Niels Lan Doky and his trio have come together to reinterpret a selection of Nina Simone’s songs.

”The first time I heard Nina Simone I was struck by the depth and richness of her voice and from that moment on I wanted to hear and know more! I continue to be taken to another realm each time I hear and experience her music. She is a phenomenal talent, passionate performer and civil rights activist who used her music and platform, not only to mesmerize her audiences, but to educate them and speak out against the social injustices towards minorities, especially African Americans in the United States”, Debbie Sledge states about her relationship with Nina Simone’s songs. Niels Lan Doky adds:

“Her music provided hope and strength during her time and continues to be ever so relevant today!”

The world tour of “Debbie Sledge Sings Nina Simone” will be launched in Denmark and because Hellerup Parkhotel has a close relationship with both Debbie and Niels, we have been given the opportunity to invite some of the hotel’s wonderful friends for a special event.

This event will take place right before the actual world premiere of the tour and aside from being granted access to the concert, which will take place at the National Museum, we are throwing in a pre-concert drink, as well as the chance to meet the stars!

We have chosen to host a competition where five lucky winners will receive two tickets to this amazing event.

All you have to do in order to participate is answer one question correctly. The question will appear on Hellerup Parkhotel’s Facebook page during the next weeks.

The event will take place on Friday 10 November at 5.30pm at Copenhagen’s National Museum.

PS: The answer to the question is available on Hellerup Parkhotel’s website. The winners will be picked at random from those who answered the question correctly. The competition runs until monday, october 30th. The prize cannot be exchanged for cash. We will inform the winners of their success directly.
